Quickfire Questions, Honest Answers

I discovered the world of Internet marketing in 2002 while working at a company in Vancouver. It opened my eyes to a vast landscape where skills like copywriting, web design, and SEO could unlock endless opportunities. After leaving that job, a client encouraged me to start my own SEO company and became my first customer. That was the beginning of my 22-year (and counting) journey.

I rely on a strong network of industry colleagues and continuous collaboration. These relationships, built over years of mutual exchange, sharpened my skills and provided insights. Additionally, I stay hands-on with client campaigns, which helps me stay attuned to what works.

I introduced a WordPress plugin for a grant writer to quickly generate city-specific pages across multiple states. This saved significant development time while adhering to Google’s SEO best practices, resulting in over 600 well-optimized pages and fast rankings.

I ask clients what “winning” looks like to them. Understanding their goals and desired outcomes allows me to tailor strategies that align with their expectations. I also identify gaps between their current state and goals, ensuring campaigns address these priorities.

I’m currently learning options, futures, and crypto trading. This technical and detail-oriented work sharpens my focus, which translates well into the analytical nature of SEO.

In SEO, stagnation means falling behind. While 80-90% of the principles remain consistent, the remaining 10-20% often dictates success. Staying on top of these changes ensures my clients remain competitive.

I recently celebrated my 51st birthday and became a grandpa to a beautiful granddaughter. Another grandchild is on the way in May 2025, and I love this new chapter of life.

My wife and I enjoy Dragon Fort Chinese Restaurant for food and Starbucks at Bakerview near Costco for coffee.

I use the Focus To-Do app with Pomodoro cycles (25-minute focused work blocks with 5-minute breaks) to stay productive and manage tasks effectively.
