1st on the list was asked to develop a business directory website design for The Canadian Social Enterprise Directory. This is a project by the BC Centre for Social Enterprise with a purpose of connecting Canadians who are intentional about purchasing from and supporting social enterprises from across Canada. The website directory is completely free to use and features social enterprises that sell goods or services, operate with a primary aim to achieve a positive environmental, social and/or cultural impact (or with generated profits directed to such impacts), features a community-based ownership, and has at least one physical location in Canada or ownership located in Canada.
Project Background Information
The BC Centre for Social Enterprise approached 1st on the List to assist with developing a unique business directory website design and launching this brand new directory style website to help connect Canadians with Social Enterprises in their own community.
Throughout the entire directory website design process, our team of designers and developers worked to:
- Consult on navigation, website structure, and database setup with a core focus on SEO friendliness and user experience.
- Complete the full directory setup including design and database configuration.
- Perform page speed optimization to make sure the new website is as fast as possible, ensuring better Google rankings and indexing, and a positive user experience for first-time and repeat visitors.
- Co-ordinate with programmers and developers to assist with custom solutions requested by the client.
In the future, 1st on the List looks forward to providing Digital Marketing consulting, developer support, and website maintenance to ensure the longevity and success of this project.
